When it comes to naming furniture - I'm no poet, but if you're looking for something that will stand up to years of dinners with the in-laws.. This design is extremely versatile, I have made variations that are over 5 meters long, down to this one that is 2.4 meters long. It can be built with or without the shoes, sorry, castors.

My Wife and I like this table so much that we made one for ourselves as a wedding present. our four boys, cats and dogs have done their best to destroy it but its holding firm! This piece (pictured) is made from Solid Tasmanian oak, when I say its solid, I mean I'll give you a 20-year warranty!

This lovely little number is the chair that has been designed to accompany the I-Beam Table. Kevin, I mean this chair, can also be adapted depending on the table height.

This Example shows some stunning Tasmania Blackwood with Tas oak Veneer on marine plywood. This is the timber choice that this family wanted, but you can have whatever you like.... what would you like?

Crazy Fox

My third Son, Fox, is an amazing little guy who just does what he wants. He wears whatever colours he wants and it just works!

For years a felts that I needed to build 'normal' furniture that reflects traditional joinery and designs. This table is a nod to Fox and all that makes him happy.

Made from some of the nicest Fiddle Back Tas Oak you will find, and bold legs made from solid Tas Oak - this coffee table will bring happiness and a spark of colour into your home and lives... Just like my Fox does for us.

I recently bought this bandsaw from the collage I went to 20 something years ago. I used it when I was there, and loved that it was an Australian made machine, and like everything I make, it’s standing the test of time. I could have bought a new fancy bandsaw, with frecken lasers of it - I need to update the electrical but this will easily outlast anything new! Just a cheeky few slabs on a Friday afternoon! I love this table so so much! Using big timber like this is such a privilege! Tasmanian Oak, an absolute joy to work with, it lasts a lifetime and is literally growing on my doorstep! Some great progress in the workshop today! I’m building this slab table and bench for a dear friend who has cared for all four of my boys - it’s a lovely thought that she will soon be sitting around this with her four kids enjoying food, drinks and time together! It’s a wonderful thing being able to make furniture for families, in some strange way, it make me feel a part of theirs! And they are done, I’m in love with these absolute stunning doors! I’ll let you in on a secret - I have never built a louvre door before, so I had to take my time, think through every step and plan out this built very carefully! I’m incredibly proud of all the work, and my client feels the same! Interestingly, no one else wanted to take this job on as ‘it’s too difficult’ or they would say ‘that can’t be done’ - one of my best skills is problem solving, so if you have a complicated space or project, get in touch! #HankMade #MadeWithWood

Another stunning piece of furniture soon to be delivered, this style of cabinet is somewhat new to me but it’s great working with clients who come to you with a strong idea of what they want, lots of pictures and tell you right up front that they love Blackwood! I have been counting these strips of timber all day, I need just over 850 louvres for this job. I filled the dust bins twice, one splinter and a tired mind😴 Each piece as four faces that need sanding, four edges that need softening. Then I paint them, cut them to length, cut a tenon on each end… I’m tired just thinking about the next steps! #HankMade #LouvreDoors #TasmanianOak

I started the long and repetitive process of making louvre doors, I think then sun and repetition sent me a bit mad today! 🤣 There is going to be 8 louvre doors in total for a lovely client who recently got in touch. These doors will be one of the last pieces in their major home renovations. Made from solid Tasmanian oak, and painted with a lovely deep charcoal they will last for a very very long time! Gosh I love this vanity - I made is a few years ago and it still looks as fresh as the day we installed it. Made from Silver Wattle and marine plywood, acrylic sink and bench-top. Having the sink and bench-top made as one means there are less visual interruptions, but also makes cleaning soooo much easier! This year I have been working with a local company to make a transportable distillation station, it’s probably one of my favourite projects as I got to make it from the ground up!! It’s finished, and delivered. It’s stunning, and soft to the touch. It’s so much work, but for friends, it’s worth it. I’m looking forward to see this age with their lovely family, get scratched as the kids play, have board games played and drinks spilt on. Progress update - I have had to stage the glue ups other wise it gets a little messy, wood goes everywhere and some bad words are said - but - Monday I start sanding and working on the drawers. Every tool in the workshop is essentially meant to cut straight lines or sand flat surfaces, so curves take so much more time! This little beaut is coming together nicely, almost a nice as the couple I’m making it for! We have been talking about this coffee table for so long, it’s great to see emerging from the saw dust. Rather than using veneer on the outside, I prefer to use solid timber and cooper them all together - this means the table is stronger and can take the occasional knock without getting damaged. A few months ago I was asked to make a record cabinet for a clients 50th - he had a pretty good idea what he wanted so we were able to land the design pretty quickly. Made form my favourite - Tas Oak - the middle shelf is on runners so he can access the record player, the slide it away so the records don’t get sun damage! Before heading to some warm beaches I finished this massive wine rack - it’s 2.7 meters wide, 1.7 meters high and holds about 390 of you best bottles. It’s made from Tas Oak with a teak stain, galvanised mesh and blackened Tas Oak for the legs and supports. And yes I loaded it into my trailer at 10pm when it was 5 degrees, by myself - joys of being self employed 😂 #HankMade #WoodIsGood #390Bottles

I’m super chuffed - these bench’s look an absolute treat, and just to make it better they are at AGFEST!! The last few months I have been working with some incredibly nice people at the Tasmanian Forests & Forests product Network and Timberlink to make these bench seats for their Agfest site. Last week (I think) I installed this little beauty. I have been working with this lovely family for 15 years I think now - it’s great to see family’s grow, and help them update their spaces as the family’s needs change. Late last year I made the wardrobe, fireplace surrounds and desk in what was phase 1 of the project. Now that they have lived with those for a few months we knew exactly what was needed to finish the room off! Last week, this lovely addition was finished. And to be honest it was a little harder than I thought. The old houses around Hobart are just beautiful, nowhere near square level and parallel - but beautiful 🤪🤪 It’s the small detail that I love in this one, the fluted panels either end of the cabinets and the pronounced kick board really suit the period of the home! #HankMade #WoodenWhiteDoors #HardToPhoto

I say it a lot - and well here is the proof - wood is good. This kitchen bench had seen many many years of use. I fact it raised an entire family - it needed a little TLC and that’s what we gave it. It’s usually the finish that gives up before the timber does. I completed a small job this week on the street where I grew up - walking into a house that I had walked past for so many years as I went to school and collage, it was like I had unlocked a secret level. It was across the road to my best mates house when I was growing up. It brought back so many amazing memories of life on that street, and some friends that I have lost touch with.. anyway. Last week I finished this stunning wine rack - it's made from solid Tas Oak and has a rich Teak Stain. As you can see its installed in a cellar that has a brick floor so adjustable feet were a must! Delivered this lovely table earlier this week. It's a restored Pine table from the 80's - I like to, where possible re use timbers rather than always buying new. This table was used as a Warhammer 40K Paint workbench for a number of years, then sat under the clients' house collecting dust. All it needed was a couple of weeks in the Hank Made rejuvenation center, it's lost a bit of weight and it feeling better than ever! The past few weeks I have been doing quite a lot of thinking. Trying to figure out what I want to do when I'm older.... Anyway, made me think about a question I get asked a lot "what do you make?"
